I almost died in Germany last night

The plane shook from side to side and the passengers looked at each other in horror with faces as white as bone.

None of us knew if this would be the end.

“I’ve been on a plane many times but have never experienced this kind of turbulence” I thought. Then the front of the plane tipped down and I felt the cheap airline food want to come up as we dropped for several seconds. We braced ourselves for the worst as our plane approached Munich Airport.

Minutes later we were on the ground laughing. We had cheated death once again.

That’s the true account of what actually happened in Germany the other night. I’m still alive and well and with more reason than ever to live out my dreams and accomplish my goals this year.

It’s a funny thing, but why do we only reconsider our actions and our life’s goals when in the face of death?

My life didn’t flash before my eyes like many people say, instead I thought of everything that I had planned to accomplish and didn’t. Time is a strange thing and it constantly escapes us. But if we take a different approach we can make time stand still. If you’ve ever been “in the zone” you know what I’m talking about.

When we live with purpose and are living in the moment time stands still and we feel fully alive.

I’m still not 100% sure what makes me happiest in life because there are many simple pleasures of life which I enjoy but what I do know is that I’m not always in pursuit of my dreams and I realize that there is much more that I could do to “fully” live.

I want to recommend a book to you that I just finished. I think it will help you set out on a path that will help you feel more alive and take a new outlook and approach toward life. I read half of it on the way here (Spain) and I just finished it today. This book has been translated into 60 languages and has sold 65 million copies in 150 countries.

It’s not the impressive numbers that make this book such a great read, but it’s the important message it carries. Here’s a link to Amazon where you can pick it up.

Hi Jae, happy to hear you are ok. Yes - I find sometimes these type of things(disasters or near death experiences…) help us put life in perspective. They serve as a reminder that it could all end in the blink of an eye. Remembering death is good way squeeze more out of life.

    Hey Jae,
I just wanted to say, I loooved reading some of your blogs esp this one and ‘the best day of your life’ one. I totally agree with you. I have 5 kids and a fiance so I’m surrounded by whingers and complaining all the time. I wake up in the morning and am so happy for another day and have lots of enthusiasm to get up and go (as everyone is still asleep, he he). It is so draining to hear the constant complaints but I thank God that He gets me through every single day with my sense of humour and my enthusiasm for life. It would be great to see more smiles on people’s faces out there :)Life is too short and it is a shame that people do wait until their ‘in the death zone’ to try and better themselves and be kinder to their family and friends. I think this everyday . . . I may not be here tomorrow so I must be kind to everyone and tell my kids I love them every night and before they leave to go anywhere. It’s always on my mind. It is reality and we all need to be aware that we are not invincible, we are mere humans. Thanks Jae. Your buddy Frank is also an inspiring person also. I can tell that you’re both genuine people which is a blessing from God. Thankyou thankyou thankyou. Hope you touch many viewers out there as you have me. God bless you and your family :) Keep Smiling :) Jules :)

Thank You for the good vibes Jules and Next Giant.

I shared this to paint a picture for those who have never really felt the cold hand of death approach.

Though I wasn’t really “scared” when this was happening I felt that things were “unfinished”, I’ve heard that when people are on their deathbed the thing they regret the most is not having taken more risk and always playing it safe.

    Just some food for thought.

    I appreciate the positive feedback!

    -Jae
